 Golf Course Overview

Blackwell Grange Golf Club opened in 1931 as a nine-hole course in the grounds of Blackwell Hall, with an original clubhouse housed in a wooden building that had served as the British Pavilion at the 1930 Antwerp Trade Fair. The club adopted its present name in 1970 when it was extended to 18 holes on land leased from the local council, and in 2013 it acquired the neighbouring Stressholme course from Darlington Borough Council and relocated to that site. The current parkland layout plays to a par of 71 over roughly 6,450 yards, with tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering and mature trees giving it a traditional feel; two mobile phone masts disguised as trees by the fourth fairway are an unusual local curiosity.

The club offers a clubhouse, pro shop, practice range and putting green, and visitors, societies and corporate groups are welcome. It is an active member of the Durham County Golf Union, hosting ladies' exchange days and a range of open competitions through the season. Blackwell Grange sits about two miles south of Darlington town centre and is accessed directly from the A66, A67 and A167, making it very convenient for travellers using the North East's motorway network.
