Golf Course Overview

Bishop's Stortford Golf Club was founded in 1910 and its layout was originally fashioned by James Braid, giving the course genuine historical pedigree. Set on gently undulating parkland, the 18-hole course plays to a par 71 over approximately 6,404 yards, with mature tree-lined fairways, subtly contoured greens and well-placed fairway bunkering. The course is known for its combination of demanding driving holes and strategic approach shots to greens that, although not heavily bunkered, reward accuracy.

The club offers a modern clubhouse with Bishop's Rest dining facility, a golf shop, driving range and extensive practice areas. Visitors and societies are welcomed throughout the week, and the club hosts county and regional competitions. Located on the Dunmow Road on the east side of the town, the course has excellent transport links via the M11 (junction 8) and A120, making it easy to reach from Stansted Airport, Cambridge and North London.
