Golf Course Overview
Founded in 1901, Birstall Golf Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Leicestershire and is owned by its members. The parkland course measures 6,239 yards with a par of 70 and a standard scratch score of 71 from the men's competition tees. Situated on high ground to the north of Leicester, the course enjoys magnificent views over the city, the hills of Charnwood Forest and eastwards towards Rutland. Superb greens and fairways along with some very challenging tree-lined holes make for a layout that is fair, testing and easy to walk.
The friendly clubhouse offers bar and catering throughout most days, changing facilities, a pro shop and function hire. An unusual feature is the Great Central Railway, whose steam engines pull in and out of the station adjacent to the course. Visitors with a valid handicap are welcome every day; societies are encouraged and the club is easy to find close to Leicester city centre.
