Golf Course Overview
Birch Hall Golf Club opened for play in 1992 on a stretch of moorland just north of Chesterfield, with the layout drawn up by David Tucker. The 18-hole course measures around 6,509 yards to a par of 73 and runs across rolling, slightly elevated terrain that delivers wide views over the Derbyshire countryside towards Sheffield. Trees and shrubs planted at the time of construction have matured to frame the fairways, and water comes into play on several of the early holes; the course's combination of length, sloping ground and exposed position can make it a stiff test in any breeze.
The club is a pay-and-play venue welcoming visitors every day, with advance booking recommended. Facilities include a clubhouse with bar, a putting green, trolley hire and buggy hire, although there is no driving range on site. Birch Hall lies on Sheffield Road in Unstone, between Dronfield and Chesterfield, and is easily reached from the A61 corridor linking Sheffield with the M1.
