Golf Course Overview
Belfairs Golf Club is a long-established members' club playing over the municipal Belfairs course at Leigh-on-Sea, originally laid out around 1923 and remodelled by Harry Colt in 1926. The 18-hole layout is set on public land and winds through the trees of Belfairs Wood, measuring around 5,840 yards to a par of 70. The opening holes are open and easy walking, while the back nine is tree-lined and tighter, demanding accuracy and good shot selection. The course was formerly known as Leigh Park Golf Club and remains one of the south Essex coast's best-known parkland tests.
The course is owned and operated by Southend-on-Sea City Council, and tee times are booked through the Belfairs golf starter; the members' club has its own clubhouse and runs a busy programme of competitions, matches against neighbouring Essex clubs and social events. Practice facilities include a putting green and trolley hire, and the venue is reached from Eastwood Road North off the A13 corridor between Leigh-on-Sea and Hadleigh. The setting next to Belfairs Park and the wood gives the round a green and wooded character despite the seaside location.
