 Golf Course Overview

Beckenham Place Park Golf Course in the London Borough of Lewisham (historically Kent), was a historic 18-hole, 5,722-yard par-69 municipal course laid out in 1907 (and known as the Foxgrove Golf Course until the London County Council purchased it in 1934), which was reputed to be the busiest and one of the oldest publicly owned courses in England, with Palladian mansion clubhouse and home clubs including Foxgrove and Braeside Golf Clubs. Despite a public petition with over 8,000 signatures, Lewisham Council closed the course in October 2016 to enable a £4.9 million Heritage Lottery Fund-backed regeneration of the wider park. The land is now part of the restored 237-acre Beckenham Place Park, featuring a popular wild swimming lake, a BMX track, walking trails and restored heritage features.

Closed 2016.
