Golf Course Overview
Beau Desert Golf Club was founded in 1911 on land once part of the Marquess of Anglesey's Beaudesert Estate, with the course designed by Herbert Fowler. This 18-hole heathland layout plays to a par of 70 over roughly 6,470 yards and is set within Cannock Chase, the largest surviving area of lowland heathland in the Midlands. Pine and birch woodland, swathes of heather and gorse give the course a wooded, tight feel, with rolling terrain and fast, testing greens. The opening hole features an intimidating carry over a heather-clad ravine, and each hole has its own distinctive character across the undulating landscape.
The club is routinely ranked among England's top 100 courses and has hosted Open Championship regional qualifying 17 times and the Carris Trophy, with the English Men's Amateur Championship scheduled here in 2026. Facilities include a 10-bay driving range, large clubhouse with restaurant and function rooms, professional shop, buggy hire and teaching services. Visitors are welcome daily by prior arrangement. Beau Desert lies at Hazelslade near Hednesford, easily accessed from the A5 and M6 for golfers travelling from Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
