Golf Course Overview
Bearwood Lakes opened in 1996 on the grounds of the former Bearwood Estate, a property that once formed part of Windsor Great Park. The 18-hole parkland layout was designed by Martin Hawtree, who routed the course through mature stands of pine, beech and oak and around a series of natural lakes covering more than 50 acres. The par 72 course measures around 6,850 yards from the back tees, and water is a strategic feature on roughly a third of the holes. The par four 13th is the most talked-about hole, asking for a long carry from an elevated tee over the corner of a lake to a distant fairway, with the green cut tight to the water's edge.
The club is predominantly a members' course and normal play is restricted to members and their guests, though the clubhouse is available for private functions. Facilities include a pro shop, practice ground and short-game area, and a clubhouse overlooking the course. Bearwood Lakes sits just off junction 10 of the M4 at Sindlesham near Wokingham, placing it a short drive from Reading and around 30 miles from central London.
