Golf Course Overview
Beamish Park Golf Club traces its origins to 1906 and is set within the grounds of a former deer park, with the historic Beamish Hall visible from many points around the course. The club was dissolved during the Second World War, reformed in 1950 and moved through several clubhouses before settling in its current location; the current 18-hole layout was designed by three-time Open champion Henry Cotton and opened in 1963. Measuring around 6,194 yards to a par of 71, the undulating, mature parkland course is noted for tight, tree-lined fairways, strategic water hazards and scenic views across the Beamish Valley.
Facilities include a clubhouse with lounge, bar and restaurant serving Sunday lunches and hot and cold snacks, a pro shop and practice areas, and the club hosts open competitions, society days, weddings and other functions. Visitors and societies are welcome and the club runs an inclusive disability golf programme. Beamish Park sits next door to the world-famous Beamish Open Air Museum, roughly five miles from the A1(M) at junction 63, and is within 30 minutes of Newcastle, Durham City and Sunderland.
