 Golf Course Overview

Beaconsfield Golf Club traces its origins to 1902, moving to its present site in 1914 where the course was laid out by the celebrated architect Harry Colt on land belonging to Colonel Du Pre of the Wilton Estate. The 18-hole parkland layout has changed remarkably little since Colt's original design and retains many of his trademark features, including bold bunkering and unusually large greens. Measuring around 6,575 yards with a par of 72, the course winds through mature mixed woodland that separates each hole from its neighbour. Among the most memorable holes are the 6th, a demanding uphill dogleg right, and the par-3 12th, where accuracy is rewarded and any stray shot is severely punished.

The club is a private members' establishment with excellent practice facilities, a traditional clubhouse, Pro Shop and a Performance Studio, and welcomes visiting golfers by prior appointment. Function and conference rooms are available for hire. Notable past members include former world number one Luke Donald, who was club champion as a junior. Beaconsfield is unusual in having its own adjacent railway halt — Seer Green and Jordans station — originally built in 1915 under a covenant with the railway, and the club is easily reached from the M40 and central London.

Beaconsfield

★★★★ ★
4.1/5

"Beaconsfield is an enamouring wooded, parkland course situated in Buckinghamshire with a largely intact Harry Colt routing from 1913."

With some restoration work (under the supervision of Martin Hawtree) already completed, and with more in the pipeline over the coming winter and beyond, this course is heading in the right direction and is one I think you'll hear more about over the coming years as its reputation as one of the best of its ilk in England grows.
