Golf Course Overview
Beacon Park Golf Centre at Dalton, near Skelmersdale, Lancashire, was an 18-hole municipal parkland course of 6,155 yards set within the scenic Beacon Country Park on the slopes of Ashurst Beacon, with wide views over the Lancashire plain. Owned by West Lancashire Borough Council and latterly operated by Serco, the facility suffered years of controversy over landfill used for a partially-completed redesign; the council formally closed the course in March 2023, citing the significant subsidy required, with the land being absorbed into an expanded Beacon Country Park for walking, cycling and nature conservation.
Closed 2023.
