Golf Course Overview
Bawburgh Golf Club was founded in 1979 by Alan Barnard, who originally laid out a nine-hole course with the help of former professional Bert Kelly. Growth came in 1991 with the addition of further holes to create the current 18-hole championship layout, a par 72 measuring around 6,720 yards across undulating parkland in the Yare valley. The main feature is a large glacial swale winding down towards the River Yare, which creates interesting tee and green positions on many holes, and the challenging par-4 18th with its approach over water to an elevated green is widely regarded as a round-destroying finish.
In addition to the 18-hole main course, Bawburgh offers a 9-hole Easton course, a modern TopTracer driving range known as the Norwich Family Golf Centre, and a well-stocked pro shop run by PGA professional Peter Field. The Glen Lodge clubhouse caters for visitors and members with breakfasts, a popular Sunday carvery and afternoon tea, and the adjoining wedding and events suite hosts functions throughout the year. The club sits directly off the A47 Norwich southern bypass close to the Norfolk showground, making it easily accessible for visitors from Norwich and beyond.
