Golf Course Overview
Basset Down Complex opened in 2005 and is laid out across 100 acres of mature parkland under the backdrop of the North Wessex Downs on the outskirts of Swindon. The nine-hole course measures around 3,170 yards (par 36, or par 72 played as 18 holes) and combines the natural contours of the land with mature trees, hedgerows and water features to create an interesting and varied test. The layout was designed to challenge experienced players while remaining fair and encouraging for newcomers, with construction of an additional nine holes underway that will eventually extend the course to a championship-length 6,452 yards.
Beyond the course, Basset Down is a well-equipped golf and leisure complex featuring a 20-bay floodlit driving range fitted with TopTracer technology, a small pro shop, two PGA professionals offering tuition, two FootGolf courses (including Wiltshire's largest 18-hole layout), a disc golf option, a restaurant and modern function rooms suitable for weddings and corporate events. The complex is just two minutes from junction 16 of the M4 and 15 minutes by car from Swindon railway station.
