Golf Course Overview
Bass Rock Golf Club was founded in 1873 as the artisans' club at North Berwick, providing affordable golf for clerks, teachers and tradesmen of the town. Members play their competitions and matches over the celebrated West Links at North Berwick, a course originally extended by Old Tom Morris and reopened in 1877 and now widely regarded as one of the world's most distinctive seaside layouts. Highlights include the famous "Redan" 15th, the 13th's "Pit" hole with its stone wall fronting the green, and the par-4 14th "Perfection" with its view over the Firth of Forth to the volcanic plug of the Bass Rock.
By tradition the club has no clubhouse of its own, instead offering its members reduced-rate golf over the West Links alongside The North Berwick Golf Club and Tantallon Golf Club. The course is managed by a joint Greens Committee with representation from each affiliated club. Bass Rock GC is administered from a small office in North Berwick close to the West Links, just five minutes' walk from North Berwick station, around 25 miles east of Edinburgh.
