Golf Course Overview

Barton-on-Sea Golf Club was founded in 1897 and occupies a dramatic stretch of coastal cliff between Highcliffe and Milford-on-Sea, overlooking the Solent. The current 27-hole layout combines the original Harry Colt design of 1932 with newer holes by J. Hamilton Stutt completed in 1992, arranged as three 9-hole loops — Becton, Needles and Stroller — that can be combined into three different 18-hole rounds. The clifftop setting produces sea breezes and links-style bump-and-run approaches, while the signature par-3 island-green 9th on the Needles course plays back across water to the clubhouse.

A modern clubhouse overlooking the lake offers a 120-cover dining room, bar and balcony with views across Christchurch Bay to the Isle of Wight and Old Harry Rocks. The club has an on-site driving range, putting and short-game areas and a pro shop, and welcomes visitors and societies daily subject to a valid handicap. It is located on Milford Road between New Milton and Milford-on-Sea, within easy reach of Bournemouth, Christchurch and the New Forest.
