Golf Course Overview
Baron Hill Golf Club, founded in 1895, claims to be one of the oldest privately owned golf courses in the UK with origins dating to the 1880s. The nine-hole heathland layout (played as 18 from differing tees) measures 5,564 yards with a par of 68 and is laid out on elevated ground above the historic town of Beaumaris. Donald Steel, Tom Mackenzie and Martin Ebert have been associated with course refinements. The course is virtually free of bunkers but compensates with several streams that come into play, true and quick sloping greens, and a much-discussed par-3 5th widely regarded as the best short hole on Anglesey.
The club has a friendly clubhouse with bar and catering, a pro shop, and modest practice facilities. Visitors and societies are made welcome and additional nine-hole rounds at no extra charge are offered to pass holders on certain weekdays. The course's elevated position takes in panoramic views across the Menai Strait to the Snowdonia mountain range and the Great Orme. Baron Hill is on the western fringe of Beaumaris, easily reached from the A545 and the A55 via Britannia Bridge.
