Golf Course Overview
Barnehurst Golf Club opened in 1903 with the course designed by James Braid and laid out the following year. The nine-hole, par-35 layout measures around 2,486 to 2,731 yards and sits in undulating, exposed terrain on the fringe of Bexleyheath in north-west Kent. Long grass, rolling hillocks and far-reaching views over the Thames Estuary lend the course something of a links feel, despite its parkland setting. The opening hole is a tight 181-yard par-3 that immediately demands accuracy, while the long par-5 2nd and the 8th give big hitters a chance to open their shoulders. With many short, well-protected greens, accurate iron play is at a premium.
Run by MyTime Active on land owned by the London Borough of Bexley, Barnehurst is a friendly pay-and-play venue with a driving range, putting green, clubhouse, the Il Corso Sports Lounge & Restaurant and a small pro shop. Visitors are welcome and tee times can be booked online up to seven days in advance. The course is approximately three miles from both the A2 (London to Medway) and the M25 Dartford River Crossing, between Bexleyheath and Dartford.
