 Golf Course Overview

Founded in 1898, Barnard Castle Golf Club is set in open parkland about a mile north of the historic market town of Barnard Castle, high above the River Tees in the Teesdale Valley. The relatively flat course measures around 6,406 yards off the men's medal tees to a par of 73, and its most distinctive feature is the network of four streams that wind through the property and come into play on several holes. Tree-lined fairways, well-maintained greens and a variety of strategic water hazards provide a fair yet demanding test, and the par-4 17th, played alongside the river, is regarded as one of the signature holes.

The club offers a clubhouse with a bar and catering, a pro shop and practice facilities. Visitors are welcome by prior arrangement on every day of the year except Christmas Day, and a range of membership categories are available. Barnard Castle has produced several talented players over the years, including former junior member Robert Dinwiddie who played in the 2005 Walker Cup. The course sits just off the A67 and is close to attractions such as the Bowes Museum and Barnard Castle itself, making it a convenient stop for visiting golfers touring County Durham.
