Golf Course Overview
Barlaston Golf Club opened in 1977 on land south of Stoke-on-Trent, with the layout designed by Peter Alliss. The 18-hole parkland course is a par 69 measuring around 5,831 yards, compact but demanding due to tight fairways, sloping ground, water features and well-placed bunkers. The River Trent winds through the property and comes into play on several holes, with lakes bordering the 8th and 9th. A notable hole is the 7th, known locally as Old Swampy, where the approach drops steeply into a pond before rising to the green, while the dogleg par-5 9th requires a carefully judged tee shot over a lakeside corner.
The club was refurbished with a modern clubhouse offering dining, lounge and bar areas, and facilities include a pro shop, practice ground, putting green and buggy hire. Visitors are welcome and tee times can be booked online or by phone. Barlaston sits just off the A51 near Barlaston Hall and Trentham Gardens, about an hour's drive from both Birmingham and Manchester, making it easily reachable from the wider Midlands.
