Golf Course Overview
Barkway Park Golf Club opened in 1992 and was designed by Vivian Saunders on a 200-acre site in north Hertfordshire close to the Cambridgeshire border. Often described as inland-links in character thanks to its high, exposed setting near Royston, the course measures around 6,939 yards from the white tees with a par of 74. The layout is firm and open with wide fairways, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards on several holes, and the prevailing breeze adds an extra dimension on the longer par fours. The course is well known for excellent greens and a number of demanding par fours which make playing to handicap a satisfying achievement.
Facilities at Barkway Park include a clubhouse with bar and dining, a pro shop, changing rooms, buggy and club hire, and a function room available for private events. Green fees are competitive and visitors and societies are warmly received, with the club hosting regular open competitions and corporate days. The course is reached via the B1368 from Royston and is within easy access of the A10 and M11, making it convenient for golfers from north London, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
