Golf Course Overview
Ballyearl Golf Club is part of the Ballyearl Arts and Leisure Centre in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, and offers a nine-hole par-3 course laid out across gently undulating parkland on the northern fringe of greater Belfast. The course measures approximately 1,157 to 1,259 yards with a par of 27 and is well suited to beginners, juniors and golfers wanting to sharpen their iron play and short game. In recent years a programme of improvements has been carried out, including major drainage work on the fairways, new permanent tees and a re-bunkering scheme designed by resident professional Richard Johnston that increased the number of sand traps from 12 to 18.
The wider centre offers excellent supporting facilities including a floodlit driving range, a putting green, a pro shop, changing rooms and a clubhouse with catering. The site is operated by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and free equipment hire makes it especially welcoming to newcomers. The club hosts open competitions and junior coaching, and is located on Doagh Road around 7 miles north of Belfast city centre.
