Golf Course Overview
Ayr Dalmilling is a municipal parkland course which first opened in 1961 as a nine-hole layout to relieve pressure on Ayr's other public courses and was subsequently extended to 18 holes. Set between Ayr Racecourse and the A77, the honest, open course measures 5,686 yards to a par of 69 and rolls gently through a valley where the River Ayr borders the southern boundary, bringing tributary burns into play on several early holes. The signature hole is the 135-yard par-three 6th, played to a green almost surrounded by water, while the dogleg 9th calls for careful strategy.
The clubhouse has a bar, restaurant and function space, and a practice putting green and chipping area support visiting players. Dalmilling is operated by Golf South Ayrshire and is a firm favourite for pay-and-play rounds, with tee times generally quicker to complete than at nearby links. It sits in the heart of Burns country on Westwood Avenue, a short drive from central Ayr, and is within easy reach of both Prestwick Airport and the wider Ayrshire tourist trail.
