Golf Course Overview
Atherstone Golf Club was founded in 1894 on what was regarded as some of the finest natural golfing land in the region, with the current layout shaped by Jonathan Gaunt and Steve Marnoch in 1999. Set in an elevated position overlooking the town of Atherstone, the 18-hole parkland course plays to a par of 72 over approximately 6,012 yards. The rolling, undulating terrain features mature oak trees, numerous blind tee shots and approaches, water in play on three holes and a mix of parkland and near-links characteristics. The tough par-five 15th with its blind uphill tee shot and stroke index 2 are among the memorable tests.
The club takes pride in being known as the home of Ryder Cup legends, having produced brothers Bernard and Geoff Hunt along with European Tour winner Paul Broadhurst. Facilities include a traditional clubhouse with bar and dining, buggy hire and function space, and the club regularly hosts societies and open competitions. Visitors are welcome and the course is easily accessed from the M42 and A5, making it popular with players from Birmingham, Coventry and across the Midlands.
