Golf Course Overview
Ashton-in-Makerfield Golf Club is a charming 18-hole parkland course founded in 1902, set in Garswood Park near Wigan with easy access from the M6. The course plays to a par of 70 over 6,223 yards, featuring rolling fairways, mature trees, and well-maintained greens that provide a rewarding round for golfers of all abilities. The layout was redesigned by Hawtree Ltd in 1974 and further refined by Jonathan Tucker in 2010, producing a course of considerable variety and character.
The club has a rich history of hosting local and regional tournaments and is celebrated for its welcoming atmosphere and excellent facilities, including a well-stocked pro shop and indoor golf studio. Nearby attractions including Haydock Park Racecourse and the Three Sisters Nature Reserve make it a popular destination for both golf and leisure.
