Golf Course Overview
Ashley Wood Golf Club was founded in 1896 and sits on the edge of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just outside Blandford Forum. The 18-hole layout stretches to around 6,248 yards with a par of 70, laid out across naturally well-drained chalk downland that keeps the course playable throughout the year. Four of the holes wind through the ancient Ashley Woods, carpeted with bluebells in spring, while the elevated position delivers panoramic views towards Salisbury Plain and the Purbeck Hills. The final stretch of holes is widely regarded as a stern examination for players of any standard.
The members' club offers a warm welcome to visitors, who can book up to six days in advance, with larger groups accommodated further ahead. Facilities include a comprehensive practice area with putting, pitching and chipping greens plus a practice bunker, and the clubhouse runs an active programme of open events, society days and junior competitions. Located half a mile from Blandford Forum on the B3082, Ashley Wood is roughly 30 minutes from both Poole and Bournemouth and around 15 miles from the coast.
