Golf Course Overview
Ardeer Golf Club is one of Ayrshire's oldest, formed in 1880 and trailing only Prestwick, Prestwick St Nicholas and Troon in seniority. The present parkland course, laid out by Hamilton Stutt, opened in its current form in the mid-1960s after the club moved from an earlier links site near Sandyhills. Measuring around 6,444 yards to a par of 72, the undulating layout weaves through mature and young trees with two meandering burns threatening many of the greens, producing a course that plays considerably tougher than the scorecard suggests. The club's past members include Scottish Amateur champions Hamilton McInally and Jackie Cannon.
The clubhouse houses a fully licensed bar, a large function hall accommodating up to 100 guests and a Sky Trak golf simulator available for hire. A small starter shop stocks essentials including balls, gloves and hire clubs, trolleys and buggies. Visitors are welcomed throughout the week by arrangement and the club runs active men's, ladies' and junior sections. Ardeer sits in Greenhead on the edge of Stevenston, a short drive from the A78 coastal route and the rail links at Stevenston and Saltcoats.
