Golf Course Overview

Arcot Hall Golf Club was established in 1909 and occupies mature woodland near the village of Dudley, Cramlington. The 18-hole parkland course was laid out by five-time Open champion James Braid and, in classic Braid fashion, places a premium on accuracy and strategic thinking through its dogleg fairways rather than outright length. It measures approximately 6,329 yards to a par of 70, with old beech, oak and chestnut trees lining every hole, while rhododendron, gorse and mayflower add seasonal colour. The signature par-three 9th is widely regarded as the stand-out hole, and the course was formerly used as an Open Championship qualifying venue.

The clubhouse is a Grade II listed building more than 200 years old, offering a restaurant and bar and serving as the social heart of a traditional members' club. Arcot Hall runs a golf academy with free taster sessions and affordable junior coaching, alongside a busy calendar of competitions, society bookings and corporate events. Reciprocal playing arrangements are in place with Eaglescliffe and Bishop Auckland golf clubs. Access is straightforward from the A19 or A189, and the club is conveniently placed for Newcastle International Airport and the North Shields ferry terminal.
