Golf Course Overview
Arbroath Golf Links is a traditional championship links course with a pedigree matched by few others in Scotland – originally laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1877, updated by Willie Fernie in 1907, then redesigned in 1931 by James Braid. The course measures around 6,200 yards with a par of 70 from the medal tees (68 from the box tees) and features over 70 bunkers, with three burns crossing the fairways on eight holes and an out-of-bounds hugging the right side for the opening seven holes. Fairways appear flat at first glance, but in true links fashion the undulating greens are well guarded by strategic bunkering.
Arbroath Golf Course is owned by Angus Council and run by the Arbroath Golf Links Committee of Management, while the adjoining Arbroath Artisan Golf Club is a private members' club providing clubhouse facilities, catering, locker rooms and showers to visitors. The pro shop offers club hire, tuition and a custom-fitting service. The course has hosted the Scottish Boys Strokeplay (1995) among other events. Located at Elliot just south of Arbroath off the A92, it sits only 10 minutes from Carnoustie and within easy reach of St Andrews and the wider East Coast golfing area.

Golf Empire Verdict
Arbroath
"There’s a deceptive quality to the humble yet alluring links course at Arbroath which would not only make an excellent companion when playing at Carnoustie, or en route to Aberdeen from the South, but is well worthy of a play in its own right."
This traditional layout is owned by Angus Council and is operated and run by the Arbroath Golf Links Committee of Management. Arbroath Artisan Golf Club is a private members club who also play over the links which was originally designed by Old Tom Morris in 1877, redesigned a few decades later by Willie Fernie and then altered once more by James Braid.
