 Golf Course Overview

Arbory Brae Golf Club at Coldchapel Farm near Abington in South Lanarkshire was a striking attempt to recreate a Victorian-era golfing experience: brothers Alfie and Harry Ward laid out a hickory-clubs-and-period-clothes themed 9-hole course in 2000, on land where Willie Fernie had originally laid out the Abington course in 1892. It closed in 2003 after only three seasons due to financial constraints compounded by the foot-and-mouth outbreak that devastated upland tourism in the area. The land has since reverted to upland sheep farming on the wild moors above the Clyde Valley.

Closed 2003.
