Golf Course Overview
Founded in 1890, Alresford Golf Club is a free-draining chalk downland course set on the slopes of Tichborne Down, adjoining the South Downs National Park. Originally laid out on 9 holes and later expanded, the present 18-hole course was designed by Scott Webb Young and extends to around 6,004 yards with a par of 69. Rolling terrain, five testing par-3s and narrow fairways guarded by well-placed bunkers provide a challenge for all levels, and the greens have developed a strong reputation for pace and trueness among Hampshire courses.
The modern clubhouse next to the 9th and 18th greens offers a bar and dining with catering by SPF Caterers. Practice facilities include a 240-yard free-draining ground, all-weather teaching bays, putting and chipping greens, a 60-yard pitching green, driving nets and a practice bunker. The club hosts regular county amateur and PGA events, welcomes visitors and societies, and is located on Cheriton Road, Tichborne Down, just outside Alresford on the road towards Cheriton.
