Golf Course Overview
Alnwick Castle Golf Club was founded in 1907 and occupies mature parkland above the historic market town of Alnwick, with land originally associated with the Capability Brown-designed estate. The 18-hole course measures approximately 6,221 yards to a par of 70, mixing par threes, fours and fives across undulating parkland where open grassland and dense gorse collect stray shots. The signature hole is the 12th, known as the "Lang Whang", an uphill dogleg-left par five that climbs to a raised green. Views extend some six miles east toward the Northumberland coast from several elevated points.
The clubhouse at Rugley Road includes a restaurant and outdoor decking overlooking the course, and the club is open to members and visitors alike. It hosts regular competitions and society days, and its location just off the A1 — around 30 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed and 32 miles north of Newcastle — makes it readily accessible for touring golfers combining visits with nearby Alnmouth, Warkworth and Dunstanburgh Castle.
