Golf Course Overview
Alnmouth Golf Club traces its origins to 1869, making it among the oldest golf clubs in England, and the present course at Foxton Hall was designed by Harry S. Colt and opened for play in 1931 after the Duke of Northumberland leased additional land to the club. The 18-hole layout measures around 6,449 to 6,669 yards to a par of 71, set on pleasantly undulating terrain above Foxton and Alnmouth Bay. Although the coastal position brings links-style breezes, the turf is genuinely parkland in nature, and elevated points around the 15th green reveal some of the finest views on the Northumberland coast.
A distinctive feature of the club is its 27-bed Dormy House on the first floor of the clubhouse, offering overnight accommodation to visiting groups alongside dining facilities and a bar. Practice amenities include a driving range and short-game areas, and buggies are available for hire. The club hosts the traditional "Upper and Downer" fixture with neighbouring Alnmouth Village and sits within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, roughly five miles south-east of Alnwick and easily reached from the A1.
