Golf Course Overview
Allestree Park Golf Course in Derby was a municipal 18-hole parkland course originally laid out by Harry Colt, set within the grounds of Grade II*-listed Allestree Hall and offering scenic views over the Derwent Valley. It was closed in December 2020 by Derby City Council on financial grounds, as it could no longer justify subsidising the course when other courses existed nearby. The land has since become the centrepiece of the UK's largest urban rewilding project, led by the council together with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and the University of Derby, with the former fairways now reverting to wildflower grassland, scrub and woodland.
Closed 2020.
