Golf Course Overview

Alford Golf Club opened its original nine-hole layout in 1982 and was extended to a full eighteen holes in 1992, with the present clubhouse completed in 1994. The course lies in the Howe of Alford and is a parkland design playing over level, easy-walking terrain framed by the Bennachie range to the east. From the white markers the course measures 5,502 yards to a par of 69 (SSS 66), with the yellow tees set at 5,233 yards and the red at 4,996. Although relatively short by modern standards, accuracy is at a premium — tight tree-lined fairways, small true greens with subtle borrows, and water features ensure that scoring is far from straightforward. The par-3 16th surrounded by water and the demanding 18th are particularly memorable.

The clubhouse sits at the heart of Alford village and offers a spacious bar, catering throughout the day, and changing rooms for both ladies and gents. The pro shop is operated jointly with the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre and handles club hire, buggy and trolley hire, custom fitting and repairs. Practice facilities include a putting green and short-game area. Visitors are welcome and prior booking is recommended. The course is positioned on Montgarrie Road just off the A944, roughly 25 miles west of Aberdeen.
