Golf Course Overview
Aberdovey Golf Club was established in 1892 and is one of the oldest courses in Wales, holding the distinction of being the birthplace of the Welsh Golfing Union. Legend has it that founder Colonel Ruck cut nine holes into the marsh and used borrowed flower pots as hole markers. The championship links has since been shaped by three of golf architecture's most respected figures — Herbert Fowler, Harry Colt and James Braid. Measuring approximately 6,777 yards to a par of 71, the traditional out-and-back layout winds between the railway line and Cardigan Bay through impressive natural dunes. Distinctive holes include the blind par-3 3rd, modelled on the famous Dell hole, and the dramatic par-3 12th built into the dunes.
The club offers a practice range, short game area, putting green and a Dormy accommodation bungalow overlooking the 18th green. Visitors are warmly welcomed and the course is ranked among the top 100 in the UK and Ireland. Aberdovey has hosted numerous amateur championships over the years and is the current host venue of the Welsh Seniors' Championship. Ian Woosnam developed his early game here. The club sits on Station Road in Aberdovey, adjacent to the village's railway station just off the A493, making train access particularly convenient.

Golf Empire Verdict
Aberdovey
"My round at Aberdovey was played in possibly the worst weather conditions that I have ever experienced on a golf course."
Persistent rain from daybreak and a forecast that showed it was set in for the day meant it certainly wasn't a morning for playing golf.
