Golf Course Overview
The Abbotsford Golf Club was founded in 1990 by Allan Hunter, the former owner of the Abbotsford Hotel in Ayr, and has grown from a social outfit into a fully Scottish Golf-affiliated members' club. The club has no course of its own, but as a member of Golf South Ayrshire it has access to eight quality courses across the local area, with the bulk of its golf played over Belleisle and Seafield in Belleisle Park. The home course at Belleisle is a James Braid-designed parkland layout opened in 1927, measuring around 6,450 yards to a par of 70 with a Course Rating of 72.1; the linksy Seafield is favoured during winter for its all-weather playability.
The club retains its 'clubhouse' base within the Abbotsford Hotel and runs weekend competitions and most-Wednesday medals from April to October, alongside annual outings to Slaley Hall, Dundonald, Portpatrick and other venues, and the long-running Andrew Hunter Memorial competition. New members are always welcome via the Honorary Secretary.
