Why Enter an Open Golf Event in South West Scotland?

South West Scotland strings together some of the country's greatest links along its Atlantic coast. Beyond Turnberry and Machrihanish, the open calendar takes in Open venue Royal Troon, the Ayrshire trio of Kilmarnock (Barassie), Dundonald and Western Gailes, and the dramatic Solway links of Southerness and Powfoot down in Dumfries & Galloway.

Opens are organised by clubs within the Ayrshire Golf Association, Argyll & Bute Golf Union and South of Scotland Golfers Association, with multi-venue fixtures like the Links Golf Cup Machrihanish (Machrihanish & Machrihanish Dunes) running alongside the headline Ayrshire event. Off the course, Robert Burns country, the whisky distilleries of Islay and the ferry runs out to Arran give visiting golfers plenty of reasons to extend the trip.
