Why Enter an Open Golf Event in Devon?

Devon's North Coast holds two of the great links in English golf within a few miles of each other. Royal North Devon at Westward Ho! — founded in 1864 and the oldest links in England — remains a working sheep-grazed common with an authentic Old Tom Morris-influenced character that is impossible to find elsewhere. Across the estuary, Saunton's Herbert Fowler East and West courses on Braunton Burrows form an England Top 100 pair and host the joint Devon Coast Links Championship with RND each September.

To the south, East Devon's clifftop heath above Budleigh Salterton and Yelverton's moorland course on Dartmoor extend the open calendar across two contrasting coastlines. With the M5, A30 and direct rail from London Paddington running through Devon, and the South Hams and Exmoor opening up multi-day trips, the county remains one of the most rewarding destinations in England for amateur tournament play.
