The Northern Order of Merit is a series of scratch open golf competitions held at courses throughout the North of England.

Below are the results from the Formby Hare at Formby Golf Club.

Duncalf homes in on Formby Hare

MARK Duncalf capitalised on home advantage in the Galvin Green Northern Order of Merit to win the Formby Hare, finishing a shot in front of fellow clubmates David Illingsworth and Geoff Harris.

He set off in blistering style with two birdies in the first three holes and an eagle two sandwiched between them on his way to a 74. He then picked up five more shots in a second round 69 for a one-under-par total.

Heswall’s Tom Dolan held on to second place in the merit table 35 points adrift of leader John Carroll, from Huyton & Prescot.

Richie Blundell, from Hillside, was five points behind Dolan in third spot with Haydock Park’s Ian Kenwright, the previous week’s winner at Southport & Ainsdale, sharing third with Duncalf.
