Quick Summary: A popular municipal golf club

Our 5 Star Rating: 3.0

Bradley Park is a popular golf course near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.

It is a club open to the public on a pay and play basis as well as having a strong membership contingent.

It provides enjoyable golf for thousands of players in West Yorkshire on a regular basis.

The course is parkland in nature and although many of the holes are tree-lined the fairways are generous. Even a wayward shot into the woodland will usually be easily found and a recovery shot back onto the fairway is a probability.

The opening hole provides a quick getaway before a par three over water. You return towards the clubhouse at the third but you must cross a ditch dissecting across the fairway and the green is angled slightly making it difficult to find. The fourth has an inviting drive whilst the next is a well-constructed par five, perhaps the best hole on the course, offering the chance of reaching in two but a small brook must be carried in order to do so.

The sixth is an uphill par three before an interesting par four that can easily be driven but has a small pond encroaching onto the green that will gather anything running to the left. Eight is a straight forward hole.

The long par four ninth also has an appealing drive with a fairway that sweeps uphill and to the left. The fairway bunkers add definition to the hole and must be avoided otherwise reaching in two is not an option.

The back nine begins with a blind drive at the 10th followed by a straight downhill par four at the 11th. The next is a long and narrow par four requiring two well struck shots to find the green in regulation whilst the 13th is a pretty par three with a large bunker waiting ominously for anything short.

Another blind tee-shot at the 14th is greeted with an undulating fairway that can send your ball scurrying towards the green if you get a nice bounce. Holes 15 and 16 are both medium length par fours and the 17th is a good par three before the par five 18th offers the opportunity of a closing birdie.

Bradley Park is not the best nor the most demanding course in the Huddersfield area but it is certainly one of the most popular and busy venues in the town. If you are ever thinking about a round at a new course then consider here because you will be made most welcome.

It's also worth noting that there is an undercover driving range and also a nine-hole par three course at Bradley Park too.
